The City of Sultan and Snohomish County Sheriff’s Department will be teaching a free competent witness class at the Block Watch meeting on October 17 at 7 p.m. at City Council Chambers, 319 Main St.
The competent witness presentation will discuss how often witness identifications are accurate; why witness statements and accounts vary so greatly and what happens to witnesses and their perceptions in a “fight or flight” state.
Sultan Police Chief, Jeff Brand said, “Our citizens and community are important partners and often a key to successful investigations and prosecution. The more key information witnesses can pass on to 911 and the police, the better the chances of identifying and finding our suspects which will increase the chances of a successful prosecution.”
Representatives from the 911 Dispatch Center will also be at the meeting to talk about what information dispatchers need when answering a 911 call.
Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting.
