Monroe police hope that a rash of car prowls and burglaries may come to an end following an arrest last week.
“We have been having prowls forever and ever and ever, but we did make an arrest, and I don’t know how many he’s getting charged for but we think he’s responsible for a good portion of them,” said Monroe Police Spokesperson Deb Willis last week.
On Monday of last week, police arrested a man they believe was at least a major figure in the string of burglaries and car prowls that went on for several months. There were 17 reported burglaries and three car prowls in September, and 27 burglaries and 21 car prowls in October.
“We don’t believe he’s doing all of them, but we think he’s a main player, and hopefully getting him off the street right now might help us,” said Willis.
He was booked into jail on three charges of car prowls and is a suspect in 10, so far.
