Sultan Turk power forward #25, senior Brock VandenEkart, crashes through for two of his team-high 18 points in the Turks’ win, 67-50, over South Whidbey on Wednesday at home.
The physical, aerobatic Turks unloosed a smothering defense in the first period. The Falcons recovered, tying the score at the half. The Turk D surged in the second half, leading to an early 10-point lead, and the Falcons got into foul trouble, committing a “flagrant foul” which allowed Turk #5, Steven Branham, three solid baskets at the foul line late in the game. Minutes later Branham reappeared at the line for two more unanswered shots. The Turks shared the scoring, with Steven Branham, 14, Brock VandenEkart, 18, Corbin McQuarrie, 12 and Cooper Beucherie, 14. The Falcons were led by Nick French with the game-high 22.
