Two men, one from Sultan and one from Monroe, were killed on Sophie Road Sunday morning when the car in which they were travelling left the road and struck a fence.
At 5:25 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies got a call from a delivery truck driver who reported seeing a car that had driven through a fence on the 23200 Block of Sophie Road, just west of Monroe.
When deputies arrived, they found a car that had driven through a fence, in which both occupants were deceased due to injuries sustained in the crash.
It isn’t known exactly when the crash occurred, but neighbors reported hearing a noise at about 1:30 a.m.
There were no immediate signs that impairment was a factor, and police believe the crash was related to speed. Both men were wearing their seatbelts.
A police investigation is ongoing. The men have not yet been publicly identified, although their next of kin have been notified.
