Wrestlers advance to Regionals

Turks Sophomore Gavyn Baird rocks over James Allen of Lakewood for a pin to win the early round of the 152-pound class of the opening bouts of the Cascade KingCo 2A Wrestling Sub-Regional tournament Friday in Sultan. The Turks went on to finish second in the tourney, advancing Jason Barrus, Jacob Naslund, and Taylor Comfort as champions in their classes. Second in their weights, James MacKenzie, Bryce MacDicken, James Boglivi, Charlie Johnson and Brandon Webb will join fourth place finishers Ryan Sharp and Matt Baller for the bus ride to the Regional match-ups in Sedro Woolley next Saturday. The top four from each weight at Regionals go to the State Mat Classic in Tacoma February 14 and 15. Turk Coach Garth MacDicken was recognized as Coach of the Year by his peers in the Cascade KingCo 2A Conference.
