The driver of an SUV that struck and injured a bicyclist in Monroe last Wednesday was arrested for DUI.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the driver, 49, was arrested for driving under the influence. The bicyclist, 54, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with several broken bones.
The crash took place about half an hour past midnight Wednesday morning, when a 2012 Ford Escape, driven by a Monroe man, was traveling east down U.S. 2 from Monroe near mile marker 12.
The bicyclist, also a Monroe man, was traveling east down the road near the center line when the vehicle struck him from behind.
The driver was not injured.
