Monroe girls basketball season halted in Snohomish

Monroe Bearcat #42, sophomore Amber Van Brunt fights for a rebound in the Bearcats’ loss, 36 – 38, to Snohomish in the “loser out” playoff game Wednesday in Snohomish.

Van Brunt scored 16 points and swept in several rebounds in the “dual of halves” game. Monroe dominated the first half with a smothering defense and shooting 40 percent, but the second half belonged to Snohomish, who held the Bearcats to 2 percent. Snohomish cranked on the defense, scooped up the rebounds and scored at will to win the second half and the game, ending the Monroe season.
