There was a recent public request to the city of Gold Bar council from local Gold Bar resident Anne Block to delete the word Easter from fliers of an upcoming event, “Easter Egg Hunt”. “Her Quote, because it’s a religious term that not all taxpayers subscribe to” This is not a celebration of Christ. It is for the pure enjoyment of our children to seek eggs for prizes etc. I made a public request to see who made the request and found out it was the above requester Ms. Block. The city does not host this event or advertise for, it is totally done by the Gold Bar Red Hat Society and has been in the past due to lack of funding from the city. There ISN’T any city funding for “ANY” events. The fliers were printed by SKY VALLEY CHAMBER, and have EASTER EGG HUNT IN THE TITLE AND WILL REMAIN AS WRITTEN.
One more thing that someone doesn’t want to acknowledge that has been going on for more years such as Christmas “TREE”.

Wow, Ms. Croshaw was able to get a public records request from the City of Gold Bar without being placed on the City’s priority list for requests?
One GBR has been waiting for two years for records while Ms. Croshaw gets pushed to the fron of the City’s so called priority list.
Perhaps Mr. Beavers can provide ALL citizens the same response time as he did Ms. Croshaw.
Ms. Croshaw needs a job and a hearing aide. Croshaw leaked Executive Session information that lead to most costly lawsuit in Gold Bar’s history and now she wants to argue about whether or not the City should be paying for religious events.
At last week’s city council meeting, which was videotaped, the City Council voted to expend a city employee named Denise Beaston to assist with the Egg Hunt. WA State’s Constitution prohibits use of taxpayer monies or resources for private purposes. Ms. Croshaw admits in her letter to the GBR that the Easter Egg Hunt is a private event, but she forgot to mention that the City Council voted to pay Denise Beaston to assist with the event. Therefore, it’s no longer “private.”
Once the City uses our employees to sponsor a private event, its no longer private. Perhaps Ms. Beaston would like to volunteer on her own time to assist with the Egg Hunt. However, the City of Gold Bar should not be using our resources ( including employees) to sponsor the event because its prohibited under WA State’s Constitution.
Christmas is a relgiious holiday. We made no objection to the tree lighting event because the holiday tree is a Pagen event. We did request that the religious term be removed from the City sponsored event so that ALL Gold Bar residents could participate in the tree lighting event.

I just wanted to ad my two cents. This is a Christian Nation “In God We Trust”. I’m sick and tired of politically correct liberals giving in to the wishes of the God haters.
HAPPY EASTER

It is sad that Ms. Block feels compelled to set her crosshairs on the Easter Egg Hunt. This fun, meaningful event is put on by dedicated volunteers who understand the value of small town traditions. The Red Hats are part of the solution: bringing neighbors together and lifting the morale of everybody who attends the many events they organize.
In order to be effective, the Red Hats (and many other successful civic groups) work WITH their partners throughout the Valley. This includes the Chamber of Commerce, City of Gold Bar, local businesses and citizen volunteers.
My family visits Gold Bar every year for Gold Dust Days and National Night Out, which are other fun events put on by the City in partnership with the Red Hats, Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce and other volunteers. These events are the product of hard work and appreciated by the hundreds of people who attend.
Finally, please explain to this left-leaning agnostic Eater Egg Hunt enthusiast: How is joyfully dashing for candy filled plastic containers (supposedly hidden by a giant bunny) a religious event?
Instead of attacking her neighbors and sucking the joy out of everything, I hope Ms. Block can let this fight go and leave the Easter Egg hunt alone.

When did the Easter Bunny become a religious icon?
