The Monroe Arts Council is holding a garage sale fundraiser on Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wagner Performing Arts Center, 639 W. Main St.
Wagner Theatre is in need of some expensive renovations and the Arts Council, which last year took over management of the theater, are counting on fellow theater lovers to help them help the venue. On the theater wish list are new seats, updated restrooms and a new sound system.
Among the items to be sold at the garage sale are theater treasures recovered during clean-up when Sky Performing Arts took charge of the arts center. Don’t forget to look for locally-made baked goods for sale.
The fundraiser will include donations from members of the community, a display board of renovations needed and opportunities for you to pledge toward achieving those goals.
Thanks to increased ticket sales this year, Sky Performing Arts will revive the Southern Revival musical “Smoke On the Mountain” this spring.
If you would like to donate to this community event bring your items to Wagner Performing Arts Center, 639 W. Main St., during the week.
