Snohomish County’s Early Head Start program is recruiting to fill openings for 82 pregnant women, infants and toddlers in eastern and northern Snohomish County.
The program provides child development and family support services to eligible families living in Sultan, Granite Falls, Arlington and Marysville.
“The inclusion of Early Head Start in Snohomish County provides an opportunity to bring public health, early intervention, housing assistance, and our strong comprehensive early childhood education program to those who can most benefit,” said Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon.
The following year-round services are offered free to eligible families:
• Weekly home visits and group socializations.
• Developmental screenings and assessments.
• Health, nutrition and mental-health referrals.
• Family goal planning.
• Parent education and leadership opportunities.
In February 2010, Snohomish County became one of three new grantees in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska to be awarded the Early Head Start grant by the National Office of Head Start.
Since then, the county has been able to serve families in need with support and educational services
