Mother’s Day is often special, but there are always a couple of memories that really stand out. Last week women from around the area shared their favorite Mother’s Day memories.
“My 5-year-old daughter made me a card. It said, ‘Dear Mommy, MOST of us love you. Happy Mother’s Day.’” -Heather Ryan
“One year we went and saw On Golden Pond starring Pat O’Brien and his family. It was amazing, dinner and theater, in San Clemente, California. It was way better than the movie. He did an amazing job.” -Iova Corcovelo
“My mother turned 90, and all the generations made a book together and we all wrote something special about who she was. My son, who is 17, typed up something in Word, and it was the most beautiful thing anyone ever wrote. He wrote, ‘I love you with all my heart, not because you are my grandmother but because you are the most amazing woman I ever met.’ It was her favorite in thing in the whole book.” -Lynne Dillon
“One Mother’s Day, I had bought love birds. The eggs hatched on Mother’s Day.” -Doris Simmons
“My best Mother’s Day was when my sisters, my girlfriends and my mom’s friends all decided to get our mothers one big limo for Mother’s Day. It was crazy pulling it off and keeping it a secret, but the limo picked up each of the three mothers at their respective houses with their favorite beverages and flowers in the limo, then took them to a nice dinner at Salty’s where more flowers and cards were waiting for each of them. Then the limo brought them to a nice Mother’s Day party at the Royal Esquire Club where all the kids were waiting and we partied the night away dancing to blues and old school soul music. I still have the pictures, and what a time we had.”-Anita White
“My best day was spending it with my mom and best friend and her daughter. I was pregnant with my daughter at the time and I got to celebrate Mother’s Day being pregnant with her. She’s my pride and joy. Oh, and we went to the Maltby Cafe, the best place for food!” -Robyn Alpine
