Senior Jolene Makinaw, who has started on the Sultan Turks softball team four years in a row, completely protects third base in the Turks’ win over Coupeville, 4 – 1, on Wednesday afternoon at home. Makinaw hit a first inning RBI, driving in the first score of the game. Later in the fourth she had another hit and a score. The final game of the season ended on a high note, as the Turks went 9 – 11, finishing with the most wins in the program’s history. More history was made by junior Jessica Hopkins, who finished the game with a season and career-high six bases, stealing 2nd and 3rd bases three times each, setting the team record for most steals in a game.
It was also Senior Night for the fastpitch team. The seniors were managers Lindsey Lyons and Judy McCullough and player Jolene Makinaw.
