Ben heads for third base with a little help from a friend during the Miracle League softball game on Saturday at Miracle Field in Monroe.
It was the last game of the Miracle League season, in which disabled youth get assistance from volunteers to play baseball. The league, a project of the Monroe Rotary Club, has grown to include more than 60 young people, and is played on a field constructed especially for the specific needs of disabled people, including wide, smooth baselines, a low pitching mound and wheelchair-friendly turf.
Currently the club is raising money for wheelchair-accessible bathrooms.
