Stefanie Celix loads food, water and other relief supplies for the Oklahoma tornado relief mission the Rock Church of Monroe has undertaken. The small convoy left Monroe Sunday to make a difference in Oklahoma.
Celix will make the trip, too, but not on this truck.
“I’m going in the second wave,” she said.
The relief effort was organized hastily; the church began the donation drive Wednesday, May 22, at first only collecting funds. But the effort grew as people donated goods and supplies. About 10 church members traveled to Oklahoma in the church van, and another six to eight flew to meet the road team. The van was headed for Moore, Okla.
