In recent days, bulldozers have been clearing thickets of blackberries from a parcel of land bordered by Blueberry Lane, Kelsey Street and U.S. 2.
The property, once the location of a party venue owned by the late Pete Wood called Pete’s Party Pit, has lain fallow for years, but now owner Jeff Burdett is exploring options to develop it.
“It’s a pretty good sized project,” said Burdett. “The idea is hopefully to build 150-200 apartments, and hopefully bring some unique features to these apartments.”
He is discussing his options with the city right now, and will have a better idea of what they are in coming weeks, when the Monroe Monitor plans to do a feature story on the history of the storied property, as well as its potential future.
