Tyler Wright, left, and teammate Ricardo Pereira, both 22, relief pitchers for the Everett AquaSox, sign baseballs and programs after reading stories to kids at the Reading with the AquaSox event, Saturday in the Sno-Isle Library in Monroe.
Pereira, from Venezuela, has been playing ball since he was five years old, when he said to his mom, “I just want to see what it felt like to play.”
Wright, from the University of Arkansas, has been playing since age 3 and now says he is motivated by his own child.
“I want to play hard to support my new family,” he said.
The team played a seven-inning double-header Saturday night against Boise. The library has free tickets for games later in August.
