The Monroe High School Performing Arts Boosters “Run for the Arts” 5K event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5. at Lake Tye Park on the first Saturday of October.
At Monroe High School there are well over 200 students involved in band, choir and drama. The Performing Arts Boosters support the students in their efforts and events through fundraising. Run for the Arts is the first fundraiser of the year for the non-profit parent group.
Check-in and registration begin at 8 a.m. The run begins at 9 a.m. The registration fee structure is as follows:
$25 (if registered by Sept. 20, fee includes a T-shirt)
$25 (after Sept. 20)
$30 (after Sept. 20, fee includes a T-shirt)

There are prizes for top finishers in several age categories from kindergarten and beyond. Additional categories this year will be:
- Four or More: teams of four or more will be entered in to a special prize drawing.
- Bearcats R Us: participants wearing orange and black will be entered in a prize drawing.
- Performing Arts Heroes: dress as your favorite performing artist and be entered in a prize drawing.
