Time is running out to make a real difference in the future of the City of Monroe. With the upcoming election there are two clear choices – vote for a rubber stamp slate of candidates with hidden agendas or vote for new candidates willing to step up and make tough decisions. If you have attended a Monroe City Council meeting or listened to meeting tapes, it is obvious decisions are being made outside the public setting. Any council person or staff who disagrees with the Mayor Zimmerman has been threatened or fired. (a good example is the Minnick property rezone east of Monroe.) I encourage you to vote for “new blood” including Geoffrey Thomas for Mayor, and Brad Waddell, Jeff Rasmussen, and especially Daniel Williams. Ballots must be postmarked by November 5, but there is a ballot drop box by the library. Don’t let this opportunity for change pass; remind your neighbors and friends that this is an important election and every vote counts.
