Sultan senior 6’2” Giovonni Williams roars over 6’ 6” Falcon Brandon Asay in the Turks’ warp-speed victory, 84 – 72, over South Whidbey Island Friday at home. The Turks laid on a lightening quick, full-court defense from the tipoff to stagger the all-over-six- foot Falcon starters.
The fast-moving game flicked back and forth during the first half with the home floor Turks taking control in the fourth period, scoring 52 points in the second half. Williams led the pack, scoring 24 points while nursing a sore back.
“It’s just hurting,” he said while resting on the floor during a late-game time out.
Kolton Anderson, with a broken wrist, and Cooper Beucherie, with a sprained ankle, sat out the game on the bench.
The Turks stand 4-1 and 7-2 on the season.
The Turk JV team opened the evening with a loss, 26 – 52; while the varsity girls, playing at South Whidbey Island, won their game, 51 – 22.
