The Snohomish County Children’s Commission will host a free forum for parents, foster parents, grandparents and caregivers to present information about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and strategies to build and support resilience in families and children. The forum will feature experts in public health, social services, and childhood development. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet professionals, learn about resources, and ask questions.
The Snohomish County Children’s Commission advises the Snohomish County Executive Office and Human Services Department staff on matters related to the administration and enhancement of children’s programs.
Lissa Knox, co-chair of the Snohomish County Children’s Commission, said, “The Commission is working to educate the community about the effects of childhood neglect and other serious challenges in the home. We hope that parents and caregivers in Monroe will attend and partner with us as we come alongside Snohomish County families, neighborhoods, and schools. ”
The forum will be held Thursday, May 8, 7-8:30 p.m.at the Monroe YMCA, 14033 Fryelands Blvd. S.E. in Monroe.
Free childcare will be provided for children over 3 years with check-in beginning at 6:45.
The Monroe forum is the third in a series of planned events hosted by the Snohomish County Children’s Commission throughout Snohomish County. Previous events have been held in Everett and Mill Creek.
