The Sky Valley Parade Float has been a labor of love. The whole thing began after Shindig 2013 when Stephanie MacDonald and Ken Walker wondered why we didn’t have a community float. The Gold Dust Days Royalty represent the community all around the Northwest and could use something better than a pickup so we decided that Stephanie & Ken were right. Some very colorful discussions followed with a very diverse group of folks. In the end we decided on a simple design that highlights outdoor recreation and the natural beauty of the area with seats on either side for our royalty to ride on.
We are grateful to Pat & Pat Toman, Dick King, Jay Prueher, Al White, Joe Beavers, Ken Walker, Stephanie MacDonald for designing and building the float. Steve Boek for manufacturing the banners, Al Wirta for creating the metal frame work, Patty & Katelyn Baller for their royalty expertise and for driving the float in parades, the City of Sultan for storage.
Thanks for financial support from: Monroe Parts House/NAPA, Sultan Veterinary Clinic, Joe Beavers, Pat & Pat Toman, Jay Prueher, Dorothy Croshaw, GlenRose Williams and the Sky Valley Chamber.
