Monroe Police found a homeless man deceased inside a tent behind an empty storefront on Oaks Street on Wednesday.

An officer checked inside the shelter behind the old Albertsons around 10:38 a.m. Jan. 17, and discovered the decedent, according to Monroe Police Department's administrative director Debbie Willis.

It was unclear what may have caused his death, Willis said, and the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office was called in. The examiner’s office will release his identity and cause of death following an investigation.
