Murray A. Gudmundson Jr. of Monroe, born October 10, 1970, joined our Lord in Heaven on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. Murray was a man of absolute faith – he spent his life serving others in many ways, to bring help and support to his family, friends, neighbors and customers. His family was his world – all of Murray’s focus was dedicated to loving, guiding and supporting Jackie and Bodee’s passions, as well as being very involved in the lives of his nephews Evy, Theo and Brock.
With the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, Murray completed an “I Am Thankful For” list at his son’s request: His answers were – Jesus; My Wife; My Son; My Family; Friends; Being Blessed with Opportunity; Career; Horses; and A Good Dog. Murray was an active supporter of Diamond J Ministries, an evangelical church hosted regularly at his barn. He dedicated time, resources and his faith to the Diamond J Youth Rodeo Camp each year. He enjoyed snowmobiling, reined cowhorse,  and Jackie and Bodee’s rodeo events; Murray also enjoyed team roping with his son.
Murray grew up in Sultan, graduating from SHS in 1988 where he played for the baseball and football teams. His mom owns and operates the Flat Iron Gallery, where as a younger man Murray helped run the store as well as providing furniture delivery services to their customers. He learned the construction trade from his father and uncle; that experience helped form Murray Gudmundson Jr. Construction, his trucking and excavation business specializing in equestrian properties.
Murray is survived by his wife, Jackie Gudmundson and their son Bodee; his mother Susan (Kermit) Greene; father Murray (Amie) Gudmundson Sr.; Jackie’s parents Gary & Sindy Jackson; his sister Shauna VandenEkart and her sons Evy, Theo and Brock; great nephews Marlo and Bennett; his uncle Gary (Sue) Gudmundson; cousins Gary (Barb) Gudmundson, Myron Gudmundson, Aaron (Autumn) Gudmundson and their families; Jackie’s brother Jason (Shelly) Jackson and their son Colton; and many, many friends.
A celebration of life will be held Friday December 1, 2017 at Cascade Community Church in Monroe at 3pm; 14377 Fryelands Blvd SE, Monroe WA 98272. In lieu of flowers, his loved ones ask that you consider a contribution to the Murray Gudmundson “Leftovers” Account at Coastal Community Bank. “If you take care of others, He will take care of you. The leftovers were for the servers, the ones that gave themselves.” Murray wanted us to know we can’t out give God. Funds will go to Jackie and Bodee to use when they need and to give it when others need it. Mail to: Jackie Gudmundson, 26717 Old Pipeline Rd, Monroe, WA 98272; or Coastal Community Bank PO Box 1566, Monroe WA 98272.
