Traffic jam fixes to Hwy. 522 in Monroe could get delayed due to budget
The voters voted for it. The state promised
it. But now the budget could stall it. That’s the project to widen SR 522 from the Snohomish River to U.S. 2. The project was on a specific list of things to be funded by the Nickel Tax package which voters approved in 2003. Read story

Monroe city administrator is fired
Monroe City Administrator Jim Southworth worked his final day Dec. 31 after he was fired over what the mayor called a difference in direction. Southworth, who came to the city from Toppenish, Wash., in May 2002, has been looking for other employment for some time. Read story
