Monroe theatre group hopes
to help work a miracle

The members of Monroe's theater community didn't know the Conner family. But they knew that Dan Conner of Seattle was a member of the theatre community there, and that was good enough. So when they heard that Dan Conner's little girl, blind since birth, needed a $75,000 for a surgery to give her the ability to see, they decided to pitch in and help out. Read story
City of Monroe transportation levy
moved from April to August


In August, Monroe will try a second time to persuade citizens to pay for improvements to local streets. But officials aren’t sure which form the request will take; that of a bond or a levy lid lift.

In November, a majority of Monroe residents voted to approve a bond that would have paid for about $7 million in improvements to eight trouble spots around town. But since the majority only reached 57%, not 60%, the amount required to pass a bond issue, the bond failed. Read story
