Charges of manslaughter have been filed against a Monroe man accused of killing a Monroe motel manager during an altercation early in the morning of Feb. 28.

According to recent court documents, Jesse Allyn Bullington, 30, had been living in unit #6 at the Monroe Motel since December. Early the morning of Feb. 26, he apparently grew irate at the people staying next door due to barking dogs in their pickup, which was parked outside.

Ken Wolfe, the manager, or his wife Amy, asked the neighbor to move the truck. As she did so, Bullington yelled at her, and also yelled at her through their adjoining wall, at which point Wolfe, 46, confronted him in the parking lot.

During the ensuing confrontation, Wolfe asked Bullington to leave the premises.
Bullington then grew verbally abusive and the two moved very close to each other, and Wolfe told Bullington that he didn't intend to hit him, according to witness' statements.
He then pushed Bullington back. Witnesses believe he was trying to put space between them.

Bullington then hit Wolfe in the head, causing him to fall back, whereupon his head struck the pavement. His eyes immediately became fixed and he had trouble breathing. Bullington laughed and fled to a nearby friend's waiting car and left, witnesses said.

Wolfe died at some point after a helicopter arrived to airlift him to Harborview Medical Center.

Later in the day, Bullington then contacted police through his employer and then surrendered peacefully. He was charged with one count of first degree manslaughter.
He has applied for reduction of his $250,000 bail, arguing that the death was an accident, and that since he turned himself in, has employment, has community ties and support, area family and friends, attends church, and has a place to stay with a friend, he doesn't present a flight risk.

He does have five prior felonies, including a second degree assault conviction. All five occurred in 1998 and 1999 in the state of Nebraska.

He is requesting a bail of $10,000 or less.
