Bulldozers are once again moving earth at Monroe High School's three-year-old stadium, but this time it's to remedy drainage problems that kept fields soggy. Shortly after the stadium was constructed, district personnel noticed that the field wasn't draining well in certain areas. So the district hired an independent contractor to find out what was wrong. The 17th Annual Community Awards were well-attended Thursday night at Monroe High School. The awards honor people and businesses that have made substantial contributions to the community in the previous year. Winners of this year's Community Caring Awards, for commitment to the community as a whole, went to Mexican variety story and bakery La Talpita and non-profit agency Take The Next Step.

The Sultan School District presented its entire musical might to parents Tuesday night, March 25, in the first of what it hopes will be an annual event. The event showcased the best music and entertainment from each of the schools in the district. A PowerPoint presentation before the concert began highlighted the importance of music in education, including statistics on higher WASL scores.
