Missing sex offender arrested in Arkansas

David Torrence, a level-3 sex offender who was directed to live under a bridge until he cut off his ankle bracelet and fled the area April 20, was arrested last week in Camden, Ark.

President signs Wild Sky Bill

The president his signed the bill, and Wild Sky Wilderness is now a reality, following nine years of effort by supporters.

"This has been a long time in the making but it's more than worth the wait,” said Mark Lawler, local forest conservation spokesperson for the Sierra Club. "We should all celebrate this historic day and be proud of our lawmakers. It shows that we can all work together to ensure the economic future of our towns and communities while preserving spectacular wildlands.”

Most people don’t spend as much time together as Tom Osendorf and Bismarck did. Most people wouldn’t be able to handle it. But Bismarck and Tom, who lived in the same house, went to work together and spent all day together in the same car, were best friends.That’s why, when the dog, a K-9 unit who worked with Osendorf for 11 years on the Monroe police force, suddenly died of a form of meningitis last Monday, it was worse than losing a human friend, Osendorf said last week.
