Two arrested for murder in Sultan death

A man and a woman have been arrested on one count of first-degree murder each in the death of a Sultan man, 49, who was reported dead Thursday, June 26.

The 46-year-old Sultan woman who reported finding her ex-boyfriend dead June 26, and her current boyfriend, a 30-year-old Gold Bar resident, were both arrested early the morning of Friday, July 4, and booked into the Snohomish County Jail.

Detectives learned the woman and the 49-year-old victim had lived together in her house in the 12800 block of 311 Avenue S.E. in Sultan as boyfriend and girlfriend for about three years before breaking up a few months ago. The victim refused to move out, even when the woman got a new boyfriend and he stayed over at the house.

Detectives believe the 30-year-old boyfriend carried out the homicide with the knowledge of his girlfriend.

The victim, whose name and official cause of death has not been released by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office, died of homicidal violence. He was found dead in his bed.
The death was reported about 6 a.m. June 26 when the woman told police she came home that morning to find the man dead in the house. Sultan Police asked the Sheriff’s Office to investigate the death.

The woman’s elderly mother also lives at the house. She was not injured.
The case remains under investigation.
