Crash injures two women; man arrested

Two young women were
injured and one man was
hospitalized and faces
criminal charges
following a collision on
U.S. 2 the night of
Friday, July 11. Jamie
Dhatt, 18, of Sultan,
had picked up her
best friend, and was
returning home at about 11 p.m. that Friday night. She and her friend planned to do some baking, as they dream of opening a catering business one day. The next day, Dhatt was preparing to march with the high school marching band in the Sultan Shindig Parade.

Seeds for Green Energy: Monroe farmers plan to add fuel oil seed silos to methane gas plant site

Farmers are turning out to be central to the search for new forms of fuel, and a group of Monroe farmers are more central than most. Already, a group of local farmers are building a digester that will turn dairy waste into valuable methane gas, which will be burned to create electricity. Read story

Motel murderer will serve
time for manslaughter

The man accused of killing Brookside Motel manager Ken Wolfe in February will serve time for Second Degree Manslaughter, following his Alford Plea Wednesday. Jesse Allyn Bullington, 30, of Camano Island, entered an Alford Plea, which means that he maintained innocence but recognized that a jury would probably convict him. Read Story

Graffiti suspect may have caused $15,000 in damage

A young man that police
believe may be
responsible for up to
$15,000 in graffiti-
related property
damage in Monroe
has been arrested.
Nicholas Pearson, 19,
of Gold Bar, was
arrested Thursday,
July 19 at about 2 a.m.
after police observed suspicious activity in the 19500 block of U.S. 2. A police officer on routine patrol observed a suspicious male in a parking lot, and when he investigated, the young man ran from the scene.
