Home invader had accomplice, says victim who fought back
The man who invaded the bedroom of a Monroe couple the night of July 24 and started a brutal ordeal in which the couple subdued him after a prolonged and violent struggle, wasn’t the man who hurt them the worst, said Donna Angevine.
The petite but athletic woman, in spite of the horror of that night, was hurt worse by the accomplice she believes directed the attacker to her secluded High Bridge Road home, an accomplice that she says she and her husband had taken in and tried to help. Read story
2008 Evergreen State Open Class award winners
This week, the Monroe Monitor presents the list of people from the Sky Valley who won top awards at the Evergreen State Fair in the open class competitions. Next week, we will run the names and some of the photos of the youth winners from the FFA and 4-H competitions. To save space and make sure we could include everyone, we only included the name of the town in which the winner lives if it was other than Monroe. Read story
"Best Team in a Decade" Bearcats nearly melt Sno in rivalry match
Victory was in reach of the Bearcats throughout a hard-fought game with Snohomish Friday night, but in spite of a last-quarter rally, it was not to be. Although the team wasn’t successful, the Bearcats are looking better than they have in perhaps a decade, fans say.
