No city at Lake Roesiger for now
A proposal to locate about 6,000 homes on Lake Roesiger northwest of Monroe has gotten a setback, following a county-imposed moratorium on the kind of development called a Fully Contained Community, or FCC. The county council voted unanimously last Wednesday to put a six-month moratorium on such mini-cities. Read story
Sky Valley campaign dollars favor Democrats
If the number of people waving signs at Monroe intersections were any indication, it appears to have been a landslide Sky Valley victory for John McCain. But when it came to putting money on the table, it was Barack Obama who got the vast majority of donations from area supporters.

Bailey is 15 wiggling, friendly pounds of curly-
furred white dog. His efforts to lick a visitor are frantic, and he is relentlessly affectionate, stepping eagerly up to anyone seated on the couch at his Farm at Woods Creek home to seek attention. But for a week in September, the dog was motionless on the couch, recovering from wounds inflicted by two pit bulls that have terrorized the neighborhood, according to Bailey’s owner. Read story
