Eviction may have lead to slaying of motel manager
A Camano Island man has been charged with one count of first degree manslaughter for the assault that led to the death of a Monroe motel manager early in the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 26, an assault that apparently began with a dispute over an eviction.
Police received a call reporting an assault at 1:01 a.m. Tuesday from a woman at the Brookside Motel, reporting that a tenant of the motel, Jesse Allyn Bullington, was involved in a physical altercation with her husband, motel night manager Ken Wolfe.
When police arrived, Ken Wolfe, 46, was unconscious outside the motel.

Phoenix was only hours from death when rescuers arrived to take the small horse from a farm at which he was starving.
Others weren't as fortunate. Rescuers found the bodies of four horses at the Carnation farm, including a mare whose colt was standing over it when they arrived.
Nine other horses, emaciated, filthy, lice-infested, with backs rotting for lack of shelter from the rain, were removed from the farm and taken to horse shelters in the Monroe area.Their owner, Jean Marie Elledge, 56, of Monroe, was arrested at the Carnation property and charged with three counts of animal cruelty. It was the second time she'd been arrested that week.
