Explosion beats Tacoma Jazz, 97-95

In a defensive battle, the Snohomish County Explosion defeated the Jazz of Tacoma 97-95 in front of 756 fans at the Monroe Sports Arena Saturday night. The win improved the team's record 5-4. The Explosion managed to hold off a hot Jazz team that shot 53% from the field in the second half. Donald Watts led five Explosion players in double figures with 18 points. Chris Weakley added 17 points on 4 of 8 from beyond the arc. Jamal Miller chipped in 15, with Milton Wright and Jamie Booker each contributing 10 points. 

The Jazz put six players in double figures, led by Alex Adediran’s 20 points. Lorenzo Rollins added 16 followed by 15 for Ike O’Hanson. The Jazz hurt themselves by only shooting 60% from the free throw line on 22 of 37 attempts. They also only connected on 2 of 11 three point attempts in the first half.

The Explosion are in action again next Saturday versus the Portland Chinooks who are 1-2 in the Southwest Division. Tip-off is set for 7:15 p.m. at the Monroe Spots Arena.
