The Snohomish County Explosion Basketball Team got back to back wins in league play with a 109-103 win in Tacoma, against the Tacoma Jazz last Friday night. The team won behind Jamaal Miller, Chris Keller and Donald Watts’ shooting and defense. The game was a battle, with the Explosion being down by as many as 10 points in the third quarter. But veteran point guard Greg Hendricks was key for a comeback win, now his second game in a row playing the point for the Snohomish County Explosion in closing minutes.
Saturday night the Explosion was in Bellingham, where they lost to the Slam, 112-149. Donald Watts was the leading scorer for the Explosion with 24 points and nine rebounds, while Chris Keller and Alex Adediran each had 16 points. Jamal Miller had 15 points and nine rebounds and Greg Hendrix had 10 points, seven assists and seven rebounds.
In other Explosion news, the team last week picked up All Star power forward Alex Adediran, previously on the Tacoma Jazz, for the remaining of the season. Dwight Edwards, former assistant coach for the Explosion, is now coaching on the bench for Tacoma. This is an exchange the Explosion are very happy with and Tacoma has a quality coach on the bench to help reshape the Jazz, commented Explosion general manager, Brad Sturlaugson.
The Explosion will play the Shaanxi Kylins (China) Saturday, May 10 at 7:15 p.m. in the Monroe Sports Arena at Monroe High School. Seats are still available by calling (425) 339-BALL (2255), or at the Monroe Sports Arena Box Office starting at 5 p.m.
